Vs Hedge End U11

Another competitive match against Hedge End Rangers gave the boys plenty to celebrate as another great team performance justified and rewarded the effort put into training.

Pressure from the kickoff was rewarded with two early goals from Zach, a little bit of luck involved, but good players create their own luck as they say...

Minor errors at the back gave the away team the chance to get back into the game, as their dangerous, and quick-footed winger got two back to level the match.

It remained tense as both teams searched for a breakthrough, until our striker was fouled in a perfect spot for the captain to showcase his talent, sweeping the ball beautifully into the corner of the net. Ten minutes later and he did it again from open play making the goal of the season a real challenge to pick, even so early in the season.

Half time saw a rotation of positions and a much needed rest for some as we played the passing game and looked for openings just as we practiced in training. We continued to be tested at the back with our defensive line staying disciplined, but our keeper was forced to bravely rush out to save a certain goal and was unfortunate to see a penalty awarded. Cameron fancied himself with the gloves on and perhaps the mindtricks of keeper-switching helped as he saved the penalty well and then cleared the rebound!

Both teams continued to play with energy and creativity and the final quarter saw another penalty awarded to Rangers, this time confidently struck and scored, but also two more deserved goals from John and then Thomas in the closing minutes to seal an impressive win against a good side. Stellar performances from every one of the Tornados made this a highly entertaining match and leaves us eager for next week...
